Dylan Pomelow, 20 years old, pleaded guilty to all 72 counts brought against him. He was sentenced to 20 years with all but four years suspended, followed by six years of probation. He was also ordered to pay $50,203.00 in restitution.
The one juvenile was processed privately; no details were available.
Howie said that he did send Sue Elwell the reward of $500.00 we have always promised and never before given out for the help in bringing these criminals to justice.
Cell Phone Tower: As far as we know the cell phone tower is still planned to be installed on a hill behind Berry's General Store toward the lake. Hopefully it is still scheduled for this September and may help bring cell phone reception in and around the lake area. In the mean time there are a few pockets of reception at the top of Hedgehog Hill. Verizon has been the carrier for this area. Also across from the Narrows next to John & Lisa and the side road next to Moxie Falls.
Pay Phone : Lots of discussion for and against the continued use of the pay phone at the end of the lake. So far the can returnables and donations from Northern Outfitters has covered this expense as well as helped to contribute extra funds. It does cost $31.00 a month, which added up could be used
towards road repairs. In the For column it was mentioned that if it could save one life it would be worthwhile. In the Against column it was mentioned that there are land lines available at most houses at the end of the lake as well as the Forks.
Motion was made and seconded to do away with the pay phone at the end of the lake. All but three in attendance were of voting privilege. There were five votes in favor of stopping and the remainder were in favor of continuing the phone service for this year. Suggestion was made to revisit this topic at the Spring meeting.
WARNING: Dam repairs are scheduled to begin two weeks from today. Between September 12th and 14th the water level will be lowered to expose the lake side of the dam that needs refacing and maintenance. September 16th the work is tentatively scheduled to begin. Any one with boats the might be harmed should think about removing them prior to these dates.
New Business: Lance Demond is gathering current member information. He will be taking address, phone, and e-mail information for LMCA member and associate member lists. Mark Leathers suggested that we go around door to door next Spring and make contacts with the camp owners down the West side Troutdale road. He is willing to volunteer his time and Deb Marshall said she would be willing to help him with this effort. They will be making notes for LMCA as far as who are the camp owners, contact information if they would like to share, as well as inviting them to be members if they are not already involved. They will use this information to put together a directory to be ready by the Spring meeting 2012.
Road Work: The new gravel has been good for road maintenance so far. Arthur Rodgers said that it has been going in well so far with very little difficulty in erosion.
Secure Site: Howie asked if Gerry was planning on taking down the password protection on the website? This protected part of the site was for the safety of those involved in the break-ins and protecting their personal information. This did not affect any other access on the site and will remain up for now.
T-Shirt and Sweatshirt Sales: LMCA t-shirt and sweatshirts are available online and can be accessed by the link on www.buymoxie.com. as well as their own direct site. This website is run by Deb and Ken Gagnon and all proceeds for these items are given to us.
Gate: There has been a gate installed on the East side at the top of Mosquito Narrows near the T. This gate will be closed after hunting season and will be open again after the Spring mud season. All emergence agencies will have keys as well as the camp owners that are affected having code passes. This gate is to protect the roads from damage during the mud seasons only. It is not intended to deny people access, just to help avoid costly repairs.
Motion was made and seconded to close; Meeting adjourned.
Reminder: Next meeting will be held the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend,
May 28, at 9:OOAM, The Forks Town Hall with a breakfast before and an auction after the meeting.
