Guest speaker
; The Forks Selectman and Tax Collector Judy Hutchinson spoke to us regarding the results from the annual dam inspection. Some repairs are to be made this year requiring the water to be lowered away from the dam. This work is tentatively scheduled for early September. The next town meeting we will be voting on these expenses only full time residences have voting privileges’ at the meetings but all are welcome to attend. Mill rate on taxes will hopefully stay the same how ever county taxes have increased from the state level so there maybe some changes.
Treasures report read and accepted
Brake ins: The town hall was broken into at the same time as the camps along the lake. Susan Ellwell was clever and set up a travel cam at their camp. She was able to get pictures of the people as they broke in. Police have recognized and have prosecuted most received jail time or probation.
Volunteer Toll: The volunteer toll was a success again yesterday bringing in $318.00. Thank you to all who gave their time and effort for the cause.
New business:
Wind Turbines: Judy Hutchinson spoke up when question asked said that they have not received any inquiries as to installations for wind turbines around the lake area. There is some study being done as far as the wind speeds by; Independent Wind out of Windham.
Road Work: Arthur said he has heard from Wagner forester Andrew Brown that they will be doing some logging on the West side. They intend to do some filling of pot holes with gravel. They have already applied some gravel to the road. Contact information for Wagner’s Bangor office #207-990-0058 and Andrew Brown Forester #207-944-5628.
Roger Deschaine asked if any of the road work had been started and have we set a limit on the expenses for this year? Wagner had said to hold off till they finish putting down gravel so we know what we will require.
Post Master Letter: There was some discussion as to the limited delivery service around the lake as well as the pleasant pond area. The post office has been concerned about the road conditions and ware and tear on the delivery vehicles.
Insurance for camps: Camp coverage can be hard to find. State farm has insured some of the camps around the lake others have found that their own home owners insurance has been willing to extend their coverage to a camp as well.
Rafters approached: Yes, the rafters were approached again this year and have made a donation.
Returnable’s: We are able to drop off returnable’s again this year in Bingham at the return, just let Penny know that they are for LMCA or leave a note in the bags. She will make sure we get the credit. You are also welcome to drop them off with Howie @ Camp Carol.
50/50 Raffle: Roger Deschaine handled the 50/50 raffle held in the back of the room. He was able to collect $167.00 which was split between Brandon Ellwell and LMCA.
